He has done extensive work in managing the full life cycle of major projects, including converting the business requirements into technical RFPs, evaluating vendor proposals, making recommendations, and managing and coordinating the vendors through the implementation. His experience includes wide area network design and optimization, voice over internet protocol (VoIP), multi-site IP-PBX installations, business continuity planning, unified communications applications, and negotiation of enterprise cellular contracts. He has worked closely with, and is familiar with the products of Avaya, Cisco, Mitel, NEC, Nortel, and Siemens. As an independent consultant David has worked with clients in a number of business sectors, including banking, legal, K-12 education, manufacturing, professional services, and shipping. He is extremely skilled in translating business requirements into technical specifications and in translating the technical abilities of the vendors into a language that business managers can understand. In managing large projects he is able to keep all players, including those not directly involved in the telecom side of the project, working together to meet the client’s requirements and expectations.

David holds a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, a Masters in Marine Sciences, and worked as a research oceanographer before taking the plunge into telecommunications at the time of AT&T’s divestiture. He has been immersed ever since and has continued his education through seminars, technical classes, and listening and reading.

David is an active member of The Society of Telecommunications Consultants and currently serves as Executive Vice President. The relationships developed through the STC with senior management of vendor organizations are a powerful asset when needed to advocate for a client.
